Good Times. Now.
We’ve wanted to live differently for a while now. But you know the drill — career demands, social obligations, societal pressures, flashing screens, and endless advertisements. By the time you’ve reached the point in your day where you can finally invest in yourself, guess what? It’s bedtime.
When the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down, our lives shifted in the same ways as a lot of yours. Working from home (well, Kacie was already freelance but now she had to deal with her annoying husband working [loudly] in the other room), no more dining out, and an overwhelming rush of depressing news from social media outlets and “reputable” sources. We’ll never forget the feelings of isolation, frustration, depression, and even existential dread that followed in those first few months.
And then we realized: this time is ours to make of it what we want. We can sit around all day and wait for the pandemic to end. Or we can see this as an opportunity to live a little differently; maybe even the way we’ve always wanted.
That’s what this website/blog/whatever you want to call it is all about: living the way you want to live, today. Within these digital halls, you’ll find essays, poems, and articles (to name a few mediums) on all of the subjects we’ve been exploring in this vein, including:
the road to going zero waste
practicing mindfulness and living in the present
living compassionately
We’ll also be writing extensively about some of the activities we’ve been enjoying that have helped us on this journey, such as:
surfing
yoga
meditation
writing
Lastly, we live in beautiful Ventura, CA and our love for this burgeoning beach town will come up often on this site. We believe that part of living good times right now is pouring into your surroundings and community. To that end, there will be a few love letters here and there to this surfing mecca and all-time beach town.
To be honest with you, this site is just as much for the two of us as it is for any of our readers. It’s a way of holding ourselves accountable and reflecting on some of the things we’ve been working on. That being said, we hope you’ll tag along and join us on this little adventure. If you’d like to contribute any works of your own, we’re open to it, so don’t be shy. The way we see it, we’re all in this together.
So read on and enjoy yourself. Just don’t forget to take a moment to breathe and sit in the present.

Sorry about the plastic cup in the pic. At least Kacie remembered her reusable straw for this event!
